AltaMed is proud to present an exclusive formal food and wine pairing event that you don’t want to miss. Enjoy a rich and diverse eclectic five-course tasting, thoughtfully paired with reserve wines from famed regions of Napa Valley and Mexico. Each course is accompanied by a carefully curated selection of rare and older vintages, including the highest-rated cabernets, blends and reserve wines. Vintners and sommeliers introduce the pairings while restaurateurs and chefs describe the acclaimed dishes that accompany each wine. Guests even have a chance to meet the celebrity winemakers and chefs as well as order directly from the vintners.

 

Sindy Lazo - Mistress of Ceremonies

Sindy Lazo is an LA based Venezuelan actress, author, comedian and TV host. Winner of Season 1 of Master Chef Latino.  Sindy also hosted her own talk-show “La Cocinita de Sindy” (Sindy’s Little Kitchen) for several seasons in Venezuela. Author of two best-selling books, “No vengas tú” (Don’t give me that…) and “La Cocinita de Sindy”, in which she compiles funny, dark and poignant essays about being a single girl who likes to cook but has no one to try her food.

Chef Tati Polo

Chef tati Polo received her Executive Chef degree from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu program at the California School of Culinary Arts. After graduating with honors, Tati created her own brand and company called Forkplate Productions, offering catering and event planning, classes and much more. Most recently, Tati can be seen on Univision, where she is part of the show Lanzate, and nominated for an Emmy Award with a segment entitled “Un taco de ojo con Tati Polo” and Univision Radio, K-Love 107.5 with a segment entitled “Vive Mejor con Tati Polo” Chef Tati can also be seen on her new upcoming project on YouTube channel, where she produces and host a show entitled “SaladLand” with Tati Polo.

Familia Otero Ramos – Mario Lozano

From a province where wine culture has been a way of life since our ancestors, few are those who achieve the art of viticulture. This is the case of Don Manuel Otero Ramos who’s blood runs with viticulture and over the course of a lifetime has built a legacy which today is the pride of all Argentina.

Chef Armando Tam

Armando “Tito” Tam is a cook and entrepreneur based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Tito’s Nicaraguan and Chinese background have shaped his culinary approach and his passion for his culture is evident in the dishes he prepares through poip up restraurants throughout the country.

Tito has worked with The Godfather of Nuevo Latino Cuisine, Douglas Rodriguez, and considers him a culinary inspiration.

Herencia del Valle – Guillermo Herrera

Out of the 45,000 acres of vineyards in The Napa Valley, we source our fruit from vineyards we know and trust. Chef Katsuji Tanabe

Born and raised in the heart of Mexico, the son of a Japanese father and a Mexican mother, Katsuji Tanabe has worked inside LA’s most acclaimed kitchens, from the four-star Bastide Restaurant to Beverly Hills’ Mastro’s Steakhouse.  A fan favorite from his three appearances on Bravo’s Top Chef television series (Mexico, Boston, and Charleston), NIXON is the fourth restaurant in Tanabe’s budding empire, including Mexikosher Los Angeles and New York City, and restaurant Barrio in downtown Chicago.

Gustavo Wine – Gustavo Brambila

Gustavo Brambila, a true celebrity, is the legendary wine maker who was portrayed in the movie “Bottle Shock” a movie about the shocking victory at the “Judgement in Paris” which put Napa wines on the map.  Gustavo makes Napa Valley wines in a style inspired by old-world winemaking techniques, with a dedication to small vineyards and the highest quality fruit.

Chef Mario Medina

After finishing culinary school in his hometown, Mario came to the United States to follow his dream. In less than a year as Sous Chef at Chateau La Jolla Inn, he was offered the position of Executive Chef. Mario next took the helm at Paradise Grill in Del Mar, followed by Finch’s Bistro for five years, then Bernini’s Bistro for a year. Now he is leading the kitchen at The Main Course Restaurant in Ramona. Although still young and early in his career Mario is becoming noteworthy for his culinary achievements, having been featured in magazines “San Diego Home and Garden”, “Dining Out”, “About Town”, “Where”, “Riviera”, “Fine”, “Ranch & Coast” and “Mexico Aquí”, as well as on many local television news channels. He is featured in cookbooks showcasing San Diego’s top chefs – ‘San Diego Chef’s Table: Extraordinary Recipes from America’s Finest City’, as well as ‘West Coast Prime Meat Book’ – and is a weekly recipe contributor to 860AM Radio and Mexico Aqui Magazine. Mario’s ongoing commitment to excellence and true hospitality, paired with his passion and love of food, always ensure his guests leave happy.

Ceja Vineyards – Amelia & Dalia Ceja

A dynamic mother-daughter duo representing the founding first generation and next level / next generation.   From farmworker to president, Amelia Moran Ceja is more than the face of the Ceja brand.  Amelia has paved the way, turning upwardly mobile Latinos into wine afficionados.  Following in the footsteps, “The Apple & The Tree”, in this case “The Grape & The Vine”…  Though Dalia Ceja and her mother share many of the same talents and responsibilities, with her personal flare and her passion for wine, cooking and travel, Dalia is sure to leave her mark and introduce the award winning Ceja brand to the next generation of wine afficionados with style.

Chef Natalie Curie

Chef Natalie Curie started working in the kitchen at the age of 12 years old. Natalie’s talents and desire for the culinary arts started at such an early age from helping her parents at their restaurant. Once Natalie graduated from high school, she decided to learn more from the world of gastronomy and attended Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. Natalie went to school every day. Studying and working when not in class, she was able to perfect her skills and expand on her abilities in the kitchen. Her desire for improvement motivated her to continue with her professional career. As a visionary chef, she began exploring the world discovering new flavors and cooking techniques she would later use in her own dishes. While in Europe for externship, Natalie and her brother Leonardo Curie. Soon after their visit, they both decided to take an internship in a culinary school. Once Natalie felt ready to apply her collected experience and knowledge to the family business, she returned to work on her family business, El Coraloense.

Natalie has won numerous recognitions some include: La weekly The Queen of Ceviche People Issue-2017, Taco Madness Best Taco Los Angeles-2014, Del Real Fight for Flavor-2014, Chula Vista Harbor Fest Best Taco-2017, Paella Wine Fest Best Paella-2017, Concurso International De Paella Valenciana 4th place representing U.S.A.-2017, Guys Grocery Games Winner-2017. Natalie has also been featured in popular news outlets such as Los Angeles Times, La Opinion, LA Weekly, El Aviso, Univision, Fox 11 News, TeleMundo etc., to name a few. Natalie plans on continuing her dreams of being a well renowned International Chef and helping her family business expand worldwide.

Flores Family Vineyards – Fidencio Flores

Fidencio is a New Age vintner with an Old World understanding thanks to the prestigious mentors he studied with over the years. Having been nurtured in the Santa Ynez Valley, he has a desire to merge the Old with the New, believing that an innovative combination allows for the best wines. Fidencio grew up with the vines and often calls himself a child of the dirt. Both a farmer and winemaker, he is involved with his grapes from the vine to the bottle. Fidencio not only grows grapes for Esfuerzo Wine, but also manages a number of award-winning vineyards across Santa Ynez Valley, Sta. Rita Hills AVA, and San Luis Obispo County.
